Cell phone video cameras. We all have them. Unfortunately, sometimes things happen a little too fast. Especially when you’re in shock. Granted, my cousin grabbed his as fast as he could, but you’ll only see the aftermath of the actual “episode”. I thought it was worthy of posting, as my mother’s expression and visible lack of explanataion is worth a thousand words. Here’s what went on just prior to what you’ll see…

When? Breakfast. Where? A cozy little spot in Los Angeles called Hugo’s. The co-stars? My cousins and my aunt visiting for the first time from New Jersey, and of course, me.
I recognized the look. Caught just enough out of the corner of my eye to know that something was about to happen. She’d been captivated by that friggin’ table next to us for several minutes. But with others there to witness it, I never thought…

And then before you knew it, she turned to one of the preoccupied, innocent-looking young men sitting there knee deep in conversation and asked if she could have a piece of his bacon.

“Excuse me…could I have a piece of your bacon?”

“Seriously, Joan!”, was all my 87 year old aunt could say as the thin, crunchy morsel hesitantly exchanged hands.

Yes, this is truly my mother’s world. Everyone wants to know her, love her, and feed her. Welcome to my 6 degrees of bacon. (Hold the Kevin.)

You need to have a camera trained on her at all times.
